The promotion of body positivity and self-esteem for women was the motivation for LaToya Rozof to start 79Roze Dress Shop. The idea was to provide affordable and fashionable dress options for curvy women. The average woman is a size 14+, yet mainstream stores provide limited options. The ultimate goal is to empower women to embrace their bodies and not feel pressured to conform to societal pressures of being a certain dress size or weight.
LaToya’s love for fashion started as a little girl and she always wanted a career in the fashion world. She holds a B.S. in Apparel and Textile Marketing from Kansas State University and did a quick stint in the retail world working for Talbots and Halls. Wife and mom are other titles that she’s balancing while building her brand and business. 79Roze Dress Shop has been featured in HERLIFE, Kansas City, Voyage ATL, Aymie and Fashion Gxd magazines as well as various local fashion shows.

Amy Kirkwood is a proud Kansas City native and current fashion design student at Johnson County Community College. Having initially discovered her love for sewing as a hobbyist, Amy's fashion journey started with a profound realization of her passion for creating garments. Leaving behind the familiarity of her career in the mortgage industry, Amy became determined to immerse herself into the fashion world, aspiring to turn her passion into a fulfilling livelihood.
For Amy, fashion isn't just about aesthetics; it's about evoking joy and connection in the wearer. Her signature style blends classic silhouettes with an edgy sophistication, aimed at creating garments that resonate with the wearer.
As she prepares for the debut of her brand at the prestigious Kansas City Fashion Week runway show, Amy remains dedicated in her belief that every day should be spent pursuing what we love most.
April’s fashion interests started as a small child when she would watch her mother sew dresses and costumes for her and her siblings, many of them designed by April herself.
April does not keep to any one aesthetic as she believes everyone should dress according to how they feel or want to feel every day. Sometimes that could mean a color is the inspiration for the look, sometimes the silhouette, or the color of the sky and the mood it inspires. April has derived many of her style and design inspirations from very diverse places she has lived such as Hawaii, Italy, Texas and California.
April has a BFA from BYU-Hawaii and an online Fashion Design Certificate from Style Design College. She has experience in costume design as the head designer for the BYUH Culture Night Latino Club Aztec Dance Performance. She has organically designed and created many articles of clothing through the course of her child, teen and adult years. Most of her creations were done so out of curiosity, need or inspiration. The past decade has been mostly focused on designing and creating for her two daughters and their imaginations. She has designed and created two wedding dresses, one of them being the one she wore to her own wedding and the other was a challenge she posed on herself one sleepless night. The challenge was to only use what materials she already had in her studio to make a wedding dress. She took down her curtains and made a wedding dress in approximately 5 hours.
April is interested in participating in KCFW as a new phase of her creativity. Last year she stepped out of her full time mom role to create a collection of ‘Found Material’ outfits that was exhibited at the Vulpes Bastille in September. This sparked a need to spend more time honing her creativity. With her children needing her less and less she is in constant search of new challenges and opportunities to surround herself with like minded, creative individuals.
April Spring Powell is a brand that represents a constant change in mood, ideas and stages in life. It is a brand that is as human as the designer. The same goes for her adolescent years and those she has lived as a wife, and a mother. It represents the many people, cultures and places she has derived inspiration from which is never ending.
April has previously participated in TRASHion Fashion (2018) and REUse Runway (2021) competitions in the Denton,Texas RedBud Festivals. She created several original prints, patterns and designs for each. She has experience in costume design as the head designer for the BYUH Culture Night Latino Club Aztec Dance Performance (2009). April recently has had an extension her latest collection, “Snack Pack Apparel” exhibited at the Vulpes Bastille. Currently, April will have three of the “Snack Pack Apparel” pieces displayed at MICAfest 2024 in Northhampton, Ma.

Kimberly Anderson knew she was destined to design when she invited her friends to play “Kim’s Closet” as a child. After studying Fashion Merchandising and getting her MBA the 9-5 never fit her Entrepreneurial spirit. She took her appetite for adventure as a stylist on the road appearing on lifestyle programs across America showcasing style solutions for everyday women and men. After years on the road and as she saw her clients growing older – she knew she had to design clothes for this niche of women who were frustrated with their current style options.
Kimberly trademarked Never Let Age Define Your Style ® - because it encapsulates everything about her styling techniques, philosophies and the mission behind her clothing brand Kikilu House of Style. She is here to remind you to wear what you love and that you are never too old to rock great style.

Always knowing that she wanted to be involved in the art industry somehow, it began with Lauren wanting to draw and paint; other than the cross stitching that her grandma had taught her, sewing and fashion didn't cross her mind until later. Eventually Lauren traded in her pencils and paints for needles and fabric. She found a new medium that she loved working with and knew from there what she wanted to do. She studied Fashion Design/Merchandising at Dominican University and got the amazing opportunity to study in Paris at the Paris American Academy (PAA) under some of the industry's top professionals.
Though she loves fashion and knew she wanted to be in the art industry somehow, she has 3 passions in life: art/fashion, animals, and mental health advocacy. She decided she didn’t want to have to choose between the three because they were all equally as important to her, so she wanted to find a way to combine them. So she began her own fashion line creating bold and confident yet whimsical and ethereal designs. Her designs are described as ethereal with a twist of couture.
Then using her fashion line to support her other passions: animal rescue and mental health advocacy. The first way she does this is by donating a portion of her sales proceeds to either an animal rescue or a non profit for mental health. She has and would love to continue partnering with an animal rescue and work more closely with them to help find homes for the animals in their care.
She also advocates for mental health by telling stories with each new collection that she creates. Each new collection tells a story and is a story about mental health, usually something she herself has gone through or is currently going through. It’s a way to show that something beautiful can come from even the darkest and ugliest times. She wants to find a way to help normalize the conversation and break the stigma that surrounds the topic of mental health. She is also trying to create a community. She is trying to use her Instagram as a place to build a community for people to go so that yes of course they can see her designs but also it’s a place you can see beautiful art, stories and inspirational quotes. She wants it to become a place in which people feel comfortable coming to feel inspired even in their darkest moments, a place they can come and feel supported, a place that conversations can be had without judgement. If she can inspire just one person to keep going when they feel down, to keep chasing that “impossible” dream, she will have succeeded.

Elizabeth Luna's interest in Fashion Design began at a very young age. Throughout Luna's years of adolescence, she explored the world of fashion by making garments out of found objects such as paper towels, cardboard, and tape and made jewelry with any objects she could lay her hands on. Her professional study of fashion design began during her sophomore year of high school when she initially studied natural dyes. This practice continues to the current day as she further investigates unconventional ways of addressing materials. Luna is interested in participating in Kansas City Fashion Week as it would allow for the immersion of her and the Kansas City artist community. Luna hopes to utilize this opportunity of exposure to Midwest artists by learning more about the capabilities of Midwest agriculture's immersion in art. Luna's brand, Luna-Eliza, is an expansion of her interdisciplinary artistic practice, which explores the process of emotional distress or change and the self-discovery of the human's inner solace.
