FAQ's
1. How early should I arrive?
Most of our runway shows start with doors opening for cocktails, mingling and shopping our vendors at 6:30pm. Our emcee will announce when it's time to get seated for the runway show, typically around 8pm. The first half of the show includes 3-4 designer segments and will last approximately 45 minutes. There will be a 15-20 minute intermission before the second half of the show starts. Each show in full lasts around 2 hrs from the start of the first designer on the runway to the last.
2. What is the Dress code?
Kansas City Fashion Week is all about style! Many of our guests use our shows as an opportunity to go all out with their look for the evening. Our weeknight shows are typically more casual with attire ranging from dressy casual to semi-formal. Our Friday and Saturday evening shows are when you'll see many award show red carpet looks, with women wearing black tie gowns and men wearing more semi-formal attire. Whatever you decide to wear to KCFW, remember to use your personal style. Photos will be taken at the event, so be ready to strut your stuff!
3. Is Photography Allowed?
If you are not applying as an official photographer, the following event camera policy will be implemented:
Professional cameras are allowed in the event with an additional $25 ticket add-on purchase. $25 fee must be paid at ticket check-in.
Camera ticket add-on will be available at event entrance and not available for purchase before the day of the show.
Camera ticket add-on grants user to shoot SEATED from their assigned seat or side stage (behind audience).
Photographers who cause distractions from the event or acting in an unprofessional manner may be removed from the event with no refund of tickets at the discretion of KCFW.
* Professional Camera = Any camera with detachable lens, tripod, other commercial equipment, or the discretion of KCFW staff
** Point & Shoot Camera, Cell Phone, or Flip Video Type devices DO NOT require ticket add-on
4. Will there be seating available?
We strongly encourage you to purchase your tickets as soon as possible. Most of our runway show reserved seats sell out before the day of the show. In this instance we will have standing room only tickets available for purchase at the door. For these tickets you may pay at the door with cash or credit card.
5. Parking?
When participating or attending Kansas City Fashion Week, you have many parking options available to you. Our newest and most convenient option is to ride Kansas City's new Streetcar that runs along Main Street. Visit Ride KC for more information. This gives you the option of finding a street parking spot, anywhere downtown then hopping on the streetcar to take you to Union Station.
Another option is the Union Station parking garage that is located on the west side of Union Station, and accessible via Broadway Street. The garage event parking fee is $12. Union Station construction may impact parking for some. Check Union Station's website for more details!
There are many other parking garages located closer to Union Station that would also be options. Visit this great downtown parking map from our partners over at Visit KC!
6. Where to eat & drink!?
Union Station is conveniently located near downtown's thriving social scene. The Crossroads Art District and Kansas City Power and Light both host several restaurants and bars. Even more convenient are two restaurants located right inside Union Station; Pierpont's and Harvey's at Union Station.
